AdobeMax is this week!

It’s that time again for the annual AdobeMAX Creative Conference. John and I have attended this conference for the last 3 years. While the in person conference was a great experience each time, last year’s virtual experience was great too. The bonus was that is was free last year and the same goes for this year.

If you are an Adobe product user, you should check it out. Often there are sneak peeks at product upgrades, creators who share tips and tricks and some famous people if you’re into that thing.

John and I use Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Adobe Fonts and Creative Cloud just to name a few. We always learn something new from the sessions at MAX.

Lastly, we will be one of the featured creator shops in the MAX Marketplace. Those who are “attending” MAX will get a discount code for our shop.

Friend to friend - I hope you take advantage to learn something new or just check it out while Adobe foots the bill for attending again this year. The in person conference is amazing and I look forward to them again, but it is an investment for yourself/company.

No In Person Craft/Maker Shows For Us This Season

After some long discussions with other fellow makers, a few with small children who cannot be vaccinated yet. We’ve made the decision to not participate in in-person events.

Typically the type of events that we do hosts thousands in attendance and is over multiple days. For us, there are still too many unknown risks with new variants, even if our whole family is fully vaccinated.

We will host some online events and participate in Adobe Max again this year. More about that soon!

Adobe Max Marketplace

During the pandemic, we’ve kept a little very 1990’s home video style vlog on my YouTube channel for friends and family to keep up with us. Phone tag, different time zones and political talk can be rough. So this has been our most consistent way to communicate with our loved ones.

Yesterday, we shared very briefly a little tidbit about what we know about our participation in Adobe Max Marketplace this year. You can check that video right here:

That vlog was a bit rushed since we were short on time yesterday. But we will definitely be sharing more as the conference draws near. Definitely sign up for it too, because who doesn’t love free? John and I both have packed schedules filled with sessions. We’ve attended the conference for the past two years and both times we learned was inspired by so much. I know that sounds like sales pitch, but we truly love their applications and makes our creative endeavors grow.

Adobe MAX Marketplace

A few months ago, we were contacted by Adobe to see if we would be interested in vending at their MAX Marketplace that takes place during their big MAX Conference.

This was a no brainer for us. Not only have we previously attended other creative seminars at the Adobe campus in Seattle, but we wouldn’t be much of a business without the many Adobe products we use daily.

We will be at the MAX Conference on Monday. The MAX Marketplace is on Wednesday only. If you happen to be attending, please stop by and say hello. Our booth in the MAX Marketplace is #25. We will have MAX exclusives and will be showing off our most intricate works. You can also follow us along via Instagram. I’ll try to post to our stories a bunch while we are there.

All orders received after Sunday 10/14/18 will ship Friday 10/19/18.

Local Roots @Molbak's In Woodinville This Saturday

I’ve been quiet here for a bit. If you’ve been following us on Instagram, you might have seen my posts about our elderly dog Toki being sick and then passing away on August 16th. I’ve tried to write a couple posts about it, but end up in a hot mess of tears. I’ll keep trying because she was great and was a huge part of my life as my sidekick. We received so many kind words and sympathy messages from many of you on IG. It was truly wonderful and a very kind human thing to do. A wholehearted thank you from me to you.

While it has been rough on my heart, we are chugging along with holiday preparation. We’ve got a couple new stockists that we’re excited to share about very soon. We’re also diving right into holiday shows starting this weekend, right here in our home town at Molbak’s.

We’re vending at their Local Roots event. There’s all sorts of additional fun things going on at Molbak’s at the same time. A glass pumpkin patch, a donut vendor, a crepe vendor and live music. Molbak’s is fun to walk through to get inspiration for home or garden decor anyways, but Saturday they’re turning it up a notch. Not gonna lie, I’m probably going to go home with a new plant and a belly full of donuts. I am working on my winter bod.

If you’re out and about near the Eastside of Seattle this weekend come say Hi and tell me some pet stories.

This weekend - The Taste of Edmonds

We'll be at The Taste of Edmonds festival this weekend. Friday - Sunday.

We rarely participate in outdoor shows, but Urban Craft Uprising presented this opportunity and we decided to try it out. As the name states, it is in Edmonds, WA. Edmonds is awesome. I've spent a lot of time there and have friends who live there and it's not too far from where we live. 

We're really looking forward to the festival. Whenever there is a festival about food, we get excited. We'll have our chalkboards (including our menu boards!), plant stands, magnets and our food related signs. 

If you're local and have been wanting something from us and like food, this will be the perfect opportunity to do so. Plus Edmonds is by the water which will be perfect to be around this weekend. Save on shipping, eat some food and have some drinks.

Taking The Scenic Route

Pretty much every day since last week, any time I hop onto social media I see someone I know taking the scenic route on a summer adventure! Including my eldest daughter who traveling through Europe right now. School is out for the summer in many places. We still have a few weeks left to go here. While a short day trip to Portland last week was a small scenic adventure, we're still wanting to go and explore more! We have a few plans lined up to do just that this summer/fall.

While we have some more time to kill before then, we are working on summer show inventory. I'm super excited to jump back into show season. It's so great to connect with our customers and chat in person.

First show on deck for us is Urban Craft Uprising's Summer Show. It's a personal long time favorite of mine. I've vended at it since it's inception, only skipping a couple shows. The organizers, volunteers, fellow vendors, sponsors and attendees are always the best. THE BEST!

We're excited for that weekend! Mark your calendars and come see us okay? It's a booth share with my other company.

Local Roots at Molbak's in Woodinville 9/23/17

For the very first time ever...we're vending in our hometown! This Saturday we will be vending at Molbak's garden + home right here in Woodinville. (Molbak's is an incredible nursery, home and garden store if you've never been.)

Anacortes Arts Festival - August 4-6, 2017

Hi!!!! I know most of you keep up with us through our Instagram (I post there almost daily!) we're in Anacortes this weekend for the Anacortes Arts Festival. 

Such a random place for us to be you might think. But actually Anacortes is my second hometown! My mom has lived in Anacortes most of my life and it's really not far from my real hometown of Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. In all my years of being a maker, this is the very first time that I will be vending near home! 

We are located near the brewery (It's like the event coordinators know me!) in booth number 311C - in the center! The festival runs Friday 10am to 7pm - Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 10 am to 5pm! Come beat the mainland heat in the much cooler temps on Fidalgo Island!

We're bringing clearance items AND our keychains! We actually will have keychains on hand!!!

To top everything else off, our daughters oldest Jina & the Blonde (Nieves) will be taking charge and taking on the family business by vending at Magnolia Summerfest's UCU Maker's Market in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle! It's Seafair Weekend! You know you'll be out about so be sure to see our girls at Summerfest!

425 Business Magazine June 2017

We're starting off June 2017 with a little press. We recently had that honor of being interviewed at our home studio for a day. We were asked questions, did a little show and tell about our process and had a few pictures taken by 425 Business Magazine. 425 is our local area code and the publication focuses on businesses in our area. Everything from big international software companies that you've probably heard of to us!

The photographer and journalist that came to our home were absolutely amazing. It is always a little strange to invite customers, press and the like to our home to see how we run our company. It is our home after all and we do have a Dr. Seuss mural on our "office" wall. We also had the pleasure of creating items for the cover. The creative artists at the magazine created a beautiful layout. 

You can read more about us in the current issue available at newsstands right now. The article will be available online later this month and we'll be sure to share it with you all then.

2017 Summer Show Tour!!!

Hey, hey, hey...we will be out and about this summer! 

First show of the season will be on June 24th -25th at the  Urban Craft Uprising's Summer Show at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. 6 by 6 will be booth sharing with Thea Starr - totally weird to talk about myself in the third person. 11am to 5pm both days. 

Next up in early July we'll be hitting the road and heading south to Los Angeles for the 9th annual Renegade Craft Fair LA! 

It's an outdoor show held at the Los Angeles State Historic Park on July 8 – July 9, 2017 11 am to 6pm both days.

Next up in August we'll be in my hometown area at the Anacortes Arts Festival!

Another outdoor show in the very cute town of Anacortes. My mom worked at Island Hospital for almost 20 years so I got to spend a lot of time in Anacortes when I was younger.

The Arts Festival is a three day event.

Held right smack dab in the middle of town on Commerical Avenue.

August 4, 5 & 6, 2017 Friday 10am - 7pm Saturday 10am - 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.

Lastly, another outdoor show, we'll be at Magnolia Summerfest in association with Urban Craft Uprising. 

Held at the West Magnolia Playfield (South) on August 5th & 6th, 2017 (Seafair Weekend!).

9am to 5pm both days. 

So, mark your calendars! Create lists for those who need gifts or lists of stuff that you want and come see us in person. We'll have new products and clearance items too. Our adult children will be present at a couple of the shows helping out, so it will truly be a 6 by 6 Arts family production.

Seattle Eastside Event Today! - Galaaxar

They are rare, but they do happen and today is one of those days. A Seattle-Eastside (the other side of Lake Washington) geek event is happening today! We're going to check it out and report back via our Instagram account. We're not vending but we are so excited to see the vintage goods and art work!

Winter Shows!

Ack! We're so excited to announce that we will be vending at two large craft shows this winter season! We wanted to do a few more shows and will be doing one private event in mid December, but there is only so much time on the calendar. So we had to choose wisely and hoped that we got picked and we did!

Our first show is a month away! We will be vending at our first ever Seattle craft show - Urban Craft Uprising. I (Thea) am no stranger to this show. I've been a vendor in every single UCU show up until this one. But I am more than excited to be bringing my new company to the show. It's fun to mix it up a bit. This show is so much fun! There's even a Preview Night and for the first time ever there will be adult drinks! Preview night is December 2nd and entry is by ticket only. I haven't had much of an opportunity to post here recently. We're busy filling wholesale orders for our stockists. Today we're trying to do as much as possible since we have a few days of storms looming over us. We live in area notorious for power loss during storms, so we're kicked into high gear.  

Our tabletop heater for our kitchen table. It's that time of the year where every open space in the house becomes a workspace!

Things are laid out everywhere in our house. Table top heaters, packaging supplies and more! Whatever it takes to get the job done.

I'm also currently lining up information about up coming holiday shows and special events that we will be at. Keep your eyes peeled for that information so you can see us in person!

Crafty Wonderland Spring Art and Craft Market June 4th!

We have a many projects keeping us busy right now. So much so, that we decided to cut back on shows this summer. One of the two we decided to do is Crafty Wonderland's Spring Art and Craft Market - this Saturday June 4th 11am to 6pm at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. It's free to attend and looking ahead at the weather report, it looks like it could be a great refuge from the crazy high temperature expected on Saturday. (Air conditioning yo!)

We will have MANY things on sale/clearance as we are phasing out a few of our products beginning this month. Deals will be had! 

Visit us at booth #98 at the one day craft market event! We're only going to be out in the wild a couple times this summer.

Crafty Wonderland Super Colossal Holiday Sale!!!

We just wrapped the Preview Night event at Crafty Wonderland. We are beat! We had a late night last night (where I chickened out from driving over crazy roads that were flooded to get my daughter to volleyball practice - I turned around about half way there.) We hit the road bright and early this morning to get to Portland in time for load in for the show. A bit of rain but otherwise all clear. No tornados or mudslides. 

Anywho - tomorrow is the regular (regularly awesome) annual weekend show.

A little late night rambling.

Over the weekend I, (Thea) vending at Seattle's premier craft show - Urban Craft Uprising. It's one of my favorite weekends in the year. Lots and lots of work, but equally as much fun. John tagged along to help me out all weekend. We also celebrated our eldest son Calvin, 19th birthday. He'll be flying the coop soon heading out to college. I made the "traditional" worms in dirt birthday pie.

We've shifted gears as we both plan to take 6 by 6 down to Portland for Crafty Wonderland's Super Colossal Holiday Sale!

We're super excited! We'll be there for the First Pick Pre Show too! We're coming stocked with all of our Lifer goods, chalkboards, Pop-Up Villages and signs! We'll have boatloads of the small "We Hate Everything Together" signs since Crafty Wonderland included a photo of it in their newsletter recently. We've been getting so much love from that. (Thank you!)

I'll hopefully squeeze in one more post before we head down Friday. We do have a couple new products that we've been waiting to introduce! Things have been so wonderfully busy that I'm a bit behind on the posting. We hope everyone is making it through this holiday season as best as you can possible.
