Hi! Random Update!

The Golden Girls Lobster Cake Pan is hard to find. So, I had to come up with something to send my loved ones to let them know I was thinking of them. But if anyone is sitting on a pile of those cake pan molds, let me know! :) Bless the set designers of The Golden Girls.

I recreated an image of the famous lobster copper pan in alder wood form. I secretly sent off a handful to a handful of my friends and the feedback and photos of these bad boys hanging in their kitchens made it all me so happy.

As said in the video - all of my creations are experiments. This one was more on the random and a little off brand for us. But I can’t resist the potential for a good chuckle. If you are interested in sending one to a friend they are available in our shop.

I honestly meant to post this last week and I had to survive “The Heat Dome” this week. But we’ve been processing wholesale orders that are coming in with shops reopening. It’s been a challenge with John working outside of our company but I’m managing and I have more new designs coming NEXT WEEK. I’ll do a sneak peek post later today.

Halloween 2019 - Spiderwebs and Laser Engraved Pumpkins

It appears that I haven’t blogged in about a year. We’ve decided to make some changes in our business. I feel like in the maker community, we’re not alone on changing stuff up this year. More on that in a future post. But there’s been a lot of action behind the scenes. If you’ve been following us a long our ride, you know we love Halloween and laser engrave pumpkins every year.

This year we did a couple extra projects like this laser cut spiderweb wreath. It is on the delicate side so, it wasn't available as a seasonal product. Just something fun to do for ourselves.

I also had a couple other small Halloween themed projects that I will share over on my other site. So now on to the pumpkins. It’s incredibly easy to find something you’d want to engrave. The tricky part is transforming an image into something that not only the laser understands but also translates well visually. Knowing how the negative spots will look on a pumpkin. Thankfully, John is super good at that so I toss images his way and he makes things work. This year, I chose two characters that I love and actually look and act like John and I - Gomez & Morticia Addams.

Time to get my costume (Morticia) on and turn on the fog machine for the trick or treaters! Happy Halloween!

Island People Are In Fact Weird

A couple years ago a couple of my childhood friends and I vacationed together on our home island. We visited our old neighborhoods and special places where we once roamed. Which of course led to debauchery. Let's face it, when you hang out with childhood friends no matter what age you are your maturity reverts to a lesser level.  To make a long story short, one of us spotted a flock of pink flamingos in the front of a local establishment and we may or may not have attempted to "borrow" one of them. Let's just say, the plan hilariously failed and will live on in friendship lore.

*Disclaimer - In no shape or form do I promote unauthorized "borrowing". In our defense, as the title of this entry claims, island people are in fact weird and do weird things. It's always in good fun. We promise.*

Funny where inspiration comes from right? I do like the appeal of the kitschy-ness of the pink flamingos. I thought it would be fun to have them standing proudly in my indoor plants.

As the listing notes, my first intention was to make some standard plant identification stakes. But my mind deviated and end up with these.

They do absolutely nothing but make you smile. And hey, we own a laser can bring our crazy ideas to life like this.
