Artist Reception at The Handmade Showroom

Do you recall a little bit ago we mentioned that we were one of the founding artists at The Handmade Showroom in Pacific Place?

A quick refresher, it's super great pop up shop that features many local artists' work in the heart of downtown Seattle. Every time we've been in there, we've been totally delighted to see the handmade displays and of course the amazing work available for sale.

This Thursday evening The Handmade Showroom is hosting an Artist Reception at the store

From their site:

We are excited to join the celebration of Fall fashion for ‪#‎StyleuPP‬ by Seattle Magazine happening at Pacific Place Seattle this week!

Visit us on Thursday evening for an exclusive reception to meet our artists, taste wares from our artisanal food vendors, view our collection of amazing handmade work, and get a head start on your holiday shopping lists!

Special on-site tastings with:
Delicately Sweet Confections - Salted Caramel Sauce
Sweet Caroline's Jams - limited edition artisan jams made with seasonal fruits
The Kitchen Imp - hand-blended organic spices and seasonings

In addition to all the fun we will have on hand, there will be a live fashion show happening at Pacific Place, so come early and join in on the fun of fashion!

The Showroom is located on the third floor next to the Nordstrom Skybridge.

All are welcome, so be sure to invite your friends to join in on the fun! We look forward to seeing you Thursday!

It's Friday (unce, unce, unce!)

I hope you all got the pronunciation of "unce" right. Our eldest texts that a lot when she does something awesome, like make a midterm her bitch. Kids are the worst. (And the best.)

It's Friday which means it's #BeerMeFriday on Instagram. John and I have committed for the near foreseeable future that we will post a picture of a new beer that we're trying out every Friday. We know it's rough, but we're willing to do it for absolutely no reason. Well, at least up until my jeans quit fitting. John might continue for quite some time.

I hope you all have a great Friday. I hope you all just got paid too, so you can appreciate this ear worm:

*Full Disclosure* John has never heard this song, this is all my doing. But go on now, and get on down now.

Seattle locals, don't forget to come out the International District's Night Market tomorrow night! We'll be sharing a booth with our goods friends Momo Seattle! 6pm to Midnight.

Have a great weekend!

Seattle Gift Show

Starts tomorrow! We have a booth that is in the Made in America section (booth #1532). We're green, excited and I'm personally hoping that I got all of our items listed on our line sheet.

This is the first "big" trade show that we've done. AND we're doing it with about a year of being in business under our belt. No time like the present right?

We're not used to working 9 to 5 hours on a typical day. So it will be nice to have shorter work days for a little bit. :D

We hope everyone in the Seattle area enjoyed the rain today!

Time Has Been Flying By

Well, I've dozed off on blogging again. We've been blessed with busy and fun filled days as of late. Let's back up back to Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco.

6 by 6 Arts takes on Renegade Craft Fair San Francisco Summer 2015

IT. WAS. AWESOME.

6 by 6 Arts takes on Renegade Craft Fair San Francisco Summer 2015

Thanks so much to all who came out and visited us! We had such a great time and hope to return to San Francisco for future shows.

After we made it home we immediately fulfilled some standing wholesale orders. One of which is with a super cute little shop in North Bend, WA called Selah Gifts. Just a block away from Twede's Cafe. Also known as the "Double R Diner".

We also squeezed in a few family days since the kids are still on summer break and we managed to coordinate schedules with John's family and our six kids for a little family trip.

Today we are preparing for a trade show this weekend as well as working on some custom items that I can't wait to share! More soon!

Renegade Craft Fair San Francisco California

In just a little over a week 6 by 6 is hitting the road to San Francisco! We will be vending at the Renegade Craft Fair San Francisco edition July 18 & 19.

We will be at booth #232B in the Herbst Pavilion! Will have our classics (BeerMe, We Hate Everything Together) and much more! Including the West Coast in chalkboard magnet form!

That's right! We've completed the continental West Coast of the United States by adding California to the mix! And true to our style they were designed to fit together.

We will have loads of the Golden State on hand at Renegade in San Francisco. Unable to come to the show to grab one for yourself? Not a problem, I've just posted them in our shop.

We're excited to hit the road and have an adventure!

The Handmade Showroom at Pacific Place in Seattle

One of my old 9-5 corporate job workday haunts is Pacific Place in Downtown Seattle. I often had lunches with clients and coworkers there. I might have ditched work early to see a movie once or twice too... It's an upscale shopping center that also has an assortment of restaurants and a cinema on the third floor. Starting this weekend Pacific Place will host the inaugural opening of The Handmade Showroom!

TheHandmadeShowroom

The fine folks from Pacific Place and Seattle Handmade have joined forces to create this awesome bi-monthly pop-up shop. The Handmade Showroom at Pacific Place Pop-up Shops will be held every 1st and 3rd weekend (Friday - Sunday) of the month June through October 2015. We are so fortunate to have been one of the first artists to vend at The Handmade Showroom. We will be offering, small versions of our laser cut wood signs, Washington State mini chalkboards and a selection of our wood magnets.

It's so incredibly exciting to have a handmade shop among the ranks of upscale stores in downtown Seattle. We're absolutely thrilled to be apart of this great event! If you happen to be out and about in downtown Seattle this weekend please be sure to stop by The Handmade Showroom. Drag your dad along! (Our Beer Me signs will be available at the pop-up shop, grab him one and then go grab a beer with him!) If you can't make it this weekend be sure to mark your calendar for the future days the pop-up shop will be open.

CreativeLive SEO for Etsy rebroadcast today and tomorrow!

Not too long ago John and I were apart of the studio audience for a CreativeLive class that our friend Marlo taught. The topic was on SEO for Etsy. AND IT'S BEING REBROADCAST TODAY AND TOMORROW!!! (April 3 -4, 2015) Also it's on sale if you miss the rebroadcast. SO MUCH CAN BE LEARNED!!!

Here are a few screen shots of John, our friend Cathy of Catshy Crafts and myself from the show.

Screenshot from Marlo's class. We all had a really great time and learned a lot about back links, keywords and alternative selling sites.

Like I said, we actually learned a boatload of stuff and have implemented what we learned in a quite a few things for our business. It's good to be sponges for knowledge. So if you have a moment today be sure to check out Marlo's class. She's the best. I might be biased... but I have been in the maker's movement for over a decade and I am still learning new things everyday. Marlo is a great instructor, we can't recommend her enough.

Crafty Wonderland - THIS WEEKEND!!!

Ack! I'm so excited!!! 6 by 6 Arts will be vending at Crafty Wonderland at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland Oregon this weekend!!!

This is our first out of state show! Seems appropriate since John originally hails from Oregon.

We'll be in booth #193. Come see us if you are in the Portland area! We will be debuting a few new items as well as bringing our best sellers.

We're looking forward to the show and hanging out in Portland in the evenings after the show. We will have at least one of our six kids with us. So we're looking for fun kid friendly suggestions for when we're there.

We hope to see some familiar faces at the show!

Gift Giving Bonanza: Small Business Supports Single Parents

It's that time of the year when we bust open our pocketbooks to buy our loved ones gifts. Everyone has tough times now and then. I've been a single mom before and I was raised by a single father. It can be quite the juggling act financially around the holidays.

Rosalie of Ugly Baby Shower Art and I are launching a website today called Gift Giving Bonanza: Small Business Supports Single Parents

We are each doing giveaways of kid friendly items to single parents this holiday season and we are hoping to get a bunch of people to join us. This website: Gift Giving Bonanza is a list of all the small businesses that are hosting giveaways.

So of course I am submitting a giveaway from both of my businesses. From 6 by 6 we are giving away TWO of our Submarine - Yellow ornaments

To submit a nominee follow this link is here: http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/8ede51b41/

The giveaway runs through December 12, 2014. I will use a randomized selector to choose the winner. We will notify the winners via the submitted email of their winnings.

Be sure to check out the other stores that are offering giveaways too
